ATTENTION-N-N-N~~

Hi Firdaus - I've discussed with my colleagues here, and it looks like they are arranging a sort of "boot camp" for the students who have formed teams and joined the competition. This would be the best time for me to teach you some JavaScript, as well as give you starter code and tips. I'll let you know when it's confirmed.

Meanwhile, has your team registered for the competition yet? It's very important to get that done, since the deadline has technically past already. You can follow the registration procedures here: http://www.nokia-widgetschallenge.com/registration.html. Please help me to inform the other students at PHS who are interested as well.

Thanks!
- Scott

Hey guys, I emailed Mr. Scott Jones (PHS Mentor for the Nokia Widget Competition). Here's my email, then followed by his reply!

Dear Mr. Scott Jones of Nanyang Polytechnic,

RE: Extra Mentoring in the Nokia Widget Competition

This email is to seek your help in mentoring us from Presbyterian High School for the Nokia Widget Competition. As your colleague did not cover on how to develop Javascript, which is the most essential part of a widget, we still do not have an idea on how to develop Javascript.

We seek your cooperation for further training us. All of us here at Presbyterian High School were ignited the passion for HTML, CSS, etc. We are enthusiastic about furthering our knowledge to Javascript.

We hope to see a favourable reply.

Yours Sincerely
Firdaus Firlany B Roslan

Here's the REPLY! (:

Hi Firdaus!

Great to hear that you and your classmates are enthusiastic about the Widget technology and the FN competition! Yes, unfortunately because of the size of the class and the level of the students, the instructors were unable to cover JavaScript or go into too much depth. But hopefully it gave them a general idea of what Widgets are, and whetted the appetite of those students who are serious about learning more and joining the competition, such as yourself.

I will be happy to conduct a class on JavaScript for you and the other students who are motivated and wish to learn more. Let me discuss with my colleagues here first to see what the best time & framework for that should be...my feeling is that for the students who are serious about the competition and who have formed their teams and come up with ideas, we should invite them back for a more advanced class on JavaScript and Widgets. First I need to get feedback from the staff who conducted the previous training, and we'll decide what's the best plan. Note that the Forum Nokia people may change the format of the competition as well, depending on how many teams actually sign up and are capable of building Widgets.

Give me a few days to look into this, Firdaus, and I'll get right back to you. Again, it's great to see your passion and thirst for knowledge!

Cheers!
= Scott Jones

=) Yay! We might have more trainings!
